The Roman Forum, situated between the Colosseum and the Palatine Hill, was once the central nervous system of Rome. Now it's an archaeological site. The area in the middle is the heart of ancient Roman public life, featuring ruins of temples, basilicas, and government buildings.
Traveler Tips
Book your tickets in advance as it is frequently sold out. There is very little shade within the Forum. Visit early in the morning or late in the afternoon to avoid both the intense sun and the heavy crowds.
