The Rialto is the most photographed bridge in Venice and the photo is always the same. White stone arch, Grand Canal beneath, restaurants stacked along the Riva del Vin to one side. I came up onto it in late afternoon expecting to fight for a railing spot. The view in this direction looks toward Cannaregio — the canal bending past the Riva del Vin's restaurant terraces.
Traveler Tips
he bridge is open 24/7 and most beautiful empty at 6am.
